Captain Edward George Gatacre died of wounds on 20 February 1916. The Dukes had taken over trenches south-east of Hebuterne, from the Essex Regiment, on the 11th of February, and it was here that Captain Gatacre was seriously wounded on the 19th, succumbing to his wounds on the following day.
