The Regimental History states that this N.C.O. was awarded the Military Medal for his part in the battle of Langemarck 1917, part of the Ypres Salient in Belgium. He went with his battalion to France, as part of the 56th Division, on 6 January, 1915, and served with them until 13 February, 1918.
