Just two other ranks of G/B Battery, Royal Horse Artillery were present at Abu Klea.

John Ritchie was born in the town of Lisbourne, Antrim, Ireland, sometime in 1866. He enlisted into the Royal Horse Artillery on 6 June 1878, being transferred to the Army Reserve on 3 August 1890, on completion of his period of army service. His transfer papers note ‘has been an officer‘s servant.’ Sold with confirmation and 20 pages of copied service papers.
