Listed as being in the Eaton (later Lord Cheylesmore) collection in 1880. One of only four William IV medals to the regiment.

Thomas Allan was born in the Parish of Walcot, Somerset, and attested for the 2nd Dragoons at Bath on 28 January 1806, aged nineteen. He spent his entire period of service in Great Britain and Ireland, and was not with the regiment at Waterloo. He was promoted to Trumpeter on 17 January 1818, and was discharged in that rank on 9 October 1832. His L.S. & G.C. medal was delivered c/o W. Robert Stanley at Bath in April 1833. Sold with copy discharge papers.
