M.S.M. London Gazette 17 June 1918. ‘... in recognition of valuable services rendered with the Forces in France during the present war’.

Acting Corporal Herbert Planner, Army Service Corps, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 18 April 1915. For his services there he was later awarded the M.S.M. Planner was granted a commission as Temporary 2nd Lieutenant in the Labour Corps on 8 April 1918. At the time of his commissioning, he was an Acting Company Sergeant-Major in the A.S.C. He was promoted to Temporary Lieutenant on 8 October 1919. He relinquished his commission on completion of services on 7 November 1919, and retained the rank of Lieutenant. Planner subsequently served in the Second World War in the Royal Navy. His medals were sent to him at ‘Glen-avis’, 3 Goodhall Way, West Wickham, Kent’. Sold with W.W.2 medal card box of issue - this mounted on card; also with copied research.
