William Stewart was promoted to a Warrant Officer Class 2 in the Australian Instructional Corps on 17 November 1917. He was appointed an Honorary Lieutenant on 1 October 1920. He was the Officiating Area Officer at Lithgow from 3 March 1921 - this being in the 2nd Divisional Area of the 2nd Military District. Stewart was awarded the Permanent Forces L.S.& G.C. (Commonwealth of Australia Gazette 13 July 1922) and was advanced to Warrant Officer Class 1 on 1 March 1923. In 1925 he was the Officiating Area Officer at Katoomba. He was awarded the Commonwealth of Australia M.S.M. (Commonwealth of Australia Gazette 31 July 1930). Honorary Lieutenant Stewart was discharged from the A.I.C. on 7 February 1932 and placed on the Retired List. Sold with copied gazette extracts and research.
