Pter Kelsberg was born in Norway on 17 March 1894. Having emigrated to Canada, he joined the Burnaby, British Columbia Municipal Police on 12 September 1912. During the Great War he served in the 72nd Canadian Infantry (Seaforth Highlanders), 28 March 1916-26 August 1919. In France, where he served from 23 May 1917, he was wounded at Lens on 27 June 1917 and was invalided to London. After the war he resumed his police service. In 1935 the Burnaby Municipal Police was absorbed into the British Columbia Provincial Police, which in turn was absorbed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1950. Kelsberg was promoted a Detective Corporal on 1 November 1946 and Sergeant on 15 August 1950. He retired on a pension on 28 February 1955 and died at Surrey, B.C., on 14 June 1969. Awarded the British Columbia Provincial Police L.S. & G.C. (Canadian Police Gazette October 1946); and the Royal Canadian Military Police L.S. & G.C. (Canada Gazette 22 October 1955).
