Provenance:
Bt P Deane November 1982.

Samuel Ware (1628-1695), weaver, also baptist; his wife’s name was Sarah (†1674). The reference to a second wife by the name of Greas Downes (
BNJ 1973, p.120), is incorrect, as is the inference that there are two obverse dies for the issue (BNJ 1973, p.105, and pl.iii, 70, 71); a flaw between r and e of ware on the pierced specimen in the County Museum had been thought to have been a misplaced punctuation mark
