17th Century, Ivinghoe, John Tomes, Farthing, mm. mullet, [–––––––], horse, rev. in·ivingho·1664·, is·t·, pierced mullet punctuation in initials, 0.94g/9h (Berry & Morley –; BW. 79A variety). Obverse with surface verdigris and virtually indistinct, reverse about very fine, of the highest rarity; the only known specimen and previously unpublished (£100-150)

Found by Mr N Clark [no relation to the dealer] close to Pitstone Mill, Ivinghoe, 31 October 1982;
bt D Griffiths April 1984.

John Tomes, mercer. The previously published token of John Tomes, known only from the specimen in the Glendining Auction of 11-12 July 1929 (lot 361, part, acquired from Spink by Edwin Hollis for the County Museum, Aylesbury), is of earlier style.

This is the only token of Ivinghoe known to the cataloguer remaining in private hands
