Hugh Morton Englebach, who was born in Teddington, Middlesex and educated at Bute House School, Petersham, enlisted in the Imperial Yeomanry in January 1900, aged 36 years. An insurance agent by profession, he had earlier been a member of the 2nd Middlesex Volunteers. Drafted to the 31st Company, 9th (Welsh) Battalion, I.Y., he served in South Africa in the period March 1900 to May 1901, and was discharged on his return home; sold with copied service papers.
