Thomas Jones, who was born in Abergavenny, Wales, enlisted in the South Wales Borderers in January 1900, aged 21 years, direct from the 4th (Militia) Battalion and his duties as a fireman. Drafted to the 2nd Battalion, he was embarked for South Africa, where, in March 1901, he transferred to Warren’s Mounted Infantry; sold with copied research.
