Frederick Jesson was born in Fulham, London, and enlisted into the 78th Foot on 23 April 1845, and transferred to the 24th Foot on 1 June 1845. Served in the Punjab in 1848-49 and was present at the battles of Chilianwala and Goojerat (Medal with 2 clasps). He was discharged as a Colour-Sergeant on 22 May 1866 with 21 years’ service. He was later a Sergeant-Instructor on the Permanent Staff of the 1st Cinque Ports Rifle Volunteer Corps, and resided at Battle, East Sussex. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal with annuity of £15 on 28 September 1891, and died on 28 November 1910. Sold with copied discharge papers.
