John Llewellyn was born at Narberth, Pembrokeshire and enlisted in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in October 1893, aged 19 years, direct from the 3rd (Militia) Battalion. Appointed to the 1st Battalion, he witnessed active service in South Africa in the periods October 1899 to March 1900 and July 1900 to the end of the war; in the interim, he was on the home establishment. Llewellyn was transferred to the Army Reserve in November 1902 and was discharged in October 1905; sold with copied research and medal roll verification.
