Frank Taynton Evans first went to France as a Private in the 28th Battalion (Artists’ Rifles), London Regiment, in early May 1915. In common with many soldiers from the Artists’ Rifles he was quickly commissioned, in his case as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 1st Battalion, Monmouthshire Regiment at the end of the same month. He subsequently held the acting rank of Captain in the period March 1916 to March 1917 and was serving as a Traffic Officer in 46th Divisional H.Q. at the war’s end; sold with copied research.
