Edward Hodkinson Bagley was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the 7th (Cyclist) Battalion, Welsh Regiment, in January 1912, and was serving as Captain in the same unit on the outbreak of hostilities in August 1914. He subsequently witnessed active service in Egypt and Palestine 1916-18 and was advanced to Major in March 1917.
In 1921, the 6th and 7th Battalions were amalgamated as the 6th (Glamorgan) Battalion and he served as C.O. of the latter in 1924-28. Having been awarded his T.D. in March 1923, he retired in March of 1928, when he was given the brevet rank of Colonel.
In 1939, Bagley was living in Glasgow, where he volunteered for the Home Guard and was made a Zone Commander of South Glasgow with the rank of Colonel. He died at Axminster, Devon in August 1969, aged 90; sold with copied research.
