William David Thomas was commissioned in the Welsh Horse in January 1915, in which unit he was serving as a Sergeant. He subsequently entered the Egyptian theatre of war as a Lieutenant in the 1/1Welsh Horse, attached Remounts Service, in January 1917. The regiment was amalgamated with the 1/1 Montgomeryshire Yeomanry to form the 25th Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers, in March of the same year and moved to the Western Front in May 1918. Thomas relinquished his commission in January 1922; sold with copied research.
