Edouard Detaille Two Very Fine Pen and Ink Military Pictures, the first entitled ‘Tambour Infanterie Anglaise’ is dated 1879 and shows a bugler wearing the new blue cloth helmet, tunic, breeches and boots, holding a pair of drum sticks and with a side drum on the ground beside him. This picture is heightened in places with white and measures 25 x 19.5 cms now contained in a good quality gilt wood glazed frame; the second shows a mounted standard bearer of a French Imperial Hussar regiment (21 x 16 cms) and is simply initialled ‘E.D.’ now contained in a modern silver and gilt painted glazed frame, good condition (2) £200-300
