Lawson Bart.), 31mm, 15.38g (W 1545; D & W 323/17; cf. DNW T11, 572). Pierced for suspension and with original brown cord, about very fine and very rare

Racing in the north-east began at Killingworth in the mid-17th century. The grandstand was erected on Town Moor in 1800 and racing was staged there until 1881 when contests were moved to Gosforth Park, where racing continues to this day
