The medal is made up of the reverses of two separate medals by John Roettier, dated to 1673. The image on this medal’s obverse is to be found in Sir Jonas Moore’s Modern Fortification or Elements of Military Architecture, London, 1689, and it would seem both images relate to the construction of a fortification
