Thomas Evan Llewellyn was killed in action in the hospital ship St. David off Anzio on 24 January 1944, when his ship was bombed and sunk by enemy aircraft with the loss of 57 lives. The ship’s master, Captain Evan Owens, was awarded a posthumous Lloyd’s Bravery Medal and commendation on the same occasion. Llewellyn left a widow resident at Fishguard, Pembrokshire, has no known grave and is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial.
