Provenance: First SNC October 1982 (7375); second A Collection of British Coins formed by a Melbourne Collector, Noble Numismatics Pty Auction 82 (Melbourne), 25-7 July 2006, lot 1539.
The second coin is accompanied by a typescript note from Michael Sharp, reading ‘I’ve looked at lot 1539. Size of flan and style of lettering look very Florin-like but the round head, prominent eyes and draped neck without shoulder all very unusual. There is nothing like it in the Withers booklet. So an interesting item for the Lessen cabinet’
