Edward III (1327-1377), Pre-Treaty period, Groat, series E (?), London, mm. cross 2 on obv., cross 1 on rev., long narrow bust with tall crown and small shoulders, thick tressure with all arches fleured, rev. reverse-barred ns, d over uncertain letter in don, 4.55g/1h (LAL p.84, a/c; Doubleday Sale 439, same obv. die; N 1163; S 1567). On a small, ragged but full-weight flan, good fine, a most unusual variety and very rare £100-£150
