Ernest William Bray was born in Clevedon, and attested for the 2nd Wessex Field Company, Royal Engineers, at the town of his birth in May 1908. He served during the Great War with the latter on the Western Front from 2 April 1918.
Leslie Benjamin Bray was born in April 1914, and was the son of the above. He resided in Clevedon, and served during the Second War with the 2nd Battalion, Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry from June 1940. Bray advanced to Corporal in August 1942, and to Sergeant the following year. He served with the Battalion in North Africa, Italy and Greece, and is recorded as having been wounded. Bray was discharged 14 December 1945.
