Gregory Dowling, merchant and navigator, was an early trader with the colony of Virginia. His Will, executed at sea on 26 November 1674, as master mariner on the Amitie, a Plymouth-based vessel en route to the Americas, is described in full by Thompson; the Will was exhibited in September 1675
