Thomas Samuel Carlisle Joiner was born in Birmingham and attested there for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. He served with the 8th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 18 September 1915, and subsequently in Salonika, and died there on 24 September 1918. He is buried in Taranto Town Cemetery Extension, Italy
