Robert Donaldson was born at Deritend, near Warwick, and enlisted at Birmingham. He served in France with the 8th Battalion from 18 September, and later in Salonika, before transferring to the 2nd Battalion for further service in France. He was wounded on 28 June 1917, and died of his wounds later the same day. He is buried in Cambrin Military Cemetery, France.
