Thomas F. Jessep was appointed Paymaster and Purser in the Royal Navy on 20 June 1797. He served as Purser of Diane in the expedition to Egypt in 1801; of Northumberland at St Domingo; and of Ramillies in the operations on the coast of America in 1813, 14, and 15. He is still shown, as the most senior Paymaster, on the Active List in January 1850. He is also entitled to the clasp for Egypt.
