21st (Empress of India’s) Lancers, A fine and rare officer’s lance cap plate c1899-1901, copper gilt fluted rayed back plate with ornate silver overlay, comprising the Imperial crown over a circle ‘Twenty-First Lancers’ with ‘VRI’ centre, upon a background of crossed lances and sprays of laurel and palm, below the circle ‘Khartoum’ and title scroll at the base ‘Empress of India’s’, four mount fixing wires missing, otherwise very good condition £400-500
