D.C.M. London Gazette 21 December 1916. ‘For conspicuous gallantry in action. He rendered most valuable assistance to his Company Commander in organising the company and marking out the line of trench to be dug out’.
Serjeant Frederick J. Smith later served with the Labour Corps. Sold with copied gazette extract and m.i.c.
