Guy Palmer was born at Muree, India, on 14 September 1865, and was appointed Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers on 15 February 1884. He served in the Burma expedition of 1886-88 as a Company Officer, Madras Sappers & Miners, under Major-General Sir George White. Lieutenant Palmer died from a wound received whilst defending a stockade at Kambale in the Chin Expedition, Upper Burma, on 8th December 1888, aged 23.
