David Arthur Edwards was born on 14 December 1925. He served over one year in the ranks of the Cheshire Regiment before receiving his first (Emergency) commission in May 1947. Promoted to Captain in December 1952, he gained the Temporary rank of Major in September 1956, being promoted to that rank in December 1959. He retired in 1980.
