Gordon Stanley Caines lived in Ealing and enlisted at Blackheath. Serving as a Serjeant with “A” Company, 1st/20th Battalion London Regiment, he died of wounds in France/Flanders, 23 May 1918, aged 28 years. He was buried in Vignacourt British Cemetery. He was the son of Mrs and the late H. J. Caines of Bournemouth.

Leslie Albert Caines, brother of the above, was born and lived in Bournemouth and enlisted at Whitehall. He served initially with the 20th Battalion London Regiment. Later with the the 3rd Battalion, and posted to the 1st/2nd Battalion, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, 27 August 1918, aged 20 years. He was buried in the Summit Trench Cemetery, Croisilles.
