John Obidiah Oakley was born in Higham, Norfolk and enlisted at Norwich. Serving with the 11th Field Ambulance, R.A.M.C., he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 24 August 1914. Serving with the 12th Field Ambulance, he died of wounds on 4 October 1917, aged 22 years. He was buried in the Canada Farm Cemetery, Elverdinghe, Belgium. He was the son of J. S. Oakley of 20 Napier Street, Norwich. With copied m.i.c. and modern photographs of his headstone and the cemetery. The group contained in a 302 x 253mm., wooden glass-fronted case.
