Citation: ‘For bravery as Company Runner at Bellenglise on 29 September 1918.’ (ref.
British Gallantry Awards, The Sherwood Foresters, compiled by C. Housley).

Gerald Feighery was born in Dublin c.1895 and lived in Holyhead, Anglesey. Served in the Great War in France, 15 September 1916-18 January 1917 and 9 June 1917-17 January 1919.

The History of the 1/8th Battalion records, ‘Action at Bellenglise Sept 26th-Sept. 29th 1918. Communication throughout the day was almost entirely by runners, who had an exceptionally strenuous time, but in spite of all their difficulties they never failed to get their messages through. Special valuable work was done in this respect by Privates Smithurst; Feighery; Sully; Cotton and Parker.’ With copied research. M.I.D. not confirmed.
