William Levy was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in December 1860.
He was born at Chatham, Kent and enlisted locally in the Royal Marines as a boy recruit in January 1833, aged 13 years. In addition to shore-based duties, he appears to have served out two seagoing appointments, namely aboard H.M. Ships Racer (1836-38) and Howe (1838-1840). Levy was discharged in June 1860.
