Army L.S. & G.C., W.IV.R. (Thomas Love, Grenadier Guards, 1834) slack steel clip and split ring suspension, naming faint in places, edge bruising, contact marks, good fine £500-600

Thomas Love was born in the Parish of Ash, near Dartford, Kent. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the 1st Foot Guards at Gosport on 4 December 1813, aged 19 years. With the Guards he served in Holland during 1814, being slightly wounded in the left leg at Bergen-op-Zoom, 8 March 1814. He then served in the Waterloo campaign and then in the advance to Paris. Served in the Army of Occupation, 1815-18. He was discharged at his own request on 22 April 1833. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in January 1835. He died on 4 October 1872 as a Chelsea Hospital In-pensioner. With copied service papers, roll extracts and death certificate.
