The Collection of Irish Gunmoney formed by Barry Allen
Barry Allen
A long-standing member of the numismatic societies at Banbury, Reading and Oxford University, Barry Allen has been a well-known figure in numismatics for over 40 years. He began collecting British coins in the early 7 960s but has now decided to part with some of his English hammered gold, a collection he started with judicious purchases of some of the smaller and rarer denominations from Michael Sharp at Baldwin's in 7972 and 7973. Within the following 34 lots are no less than three gold halfcrowns of Elizabeth I (lots 3449-57) and two gold crowns of Edward VI (lots 3446-7).
