Conner, R.A.), note differing surname spelling and numbers, one or two edge bruises and a little polished, otherwise very fine (4) £600-800
D.C.M. London Gazette 1 December 1915:
‘For conspicuous gallantry on 30 September 1915, at Ypres. While employed as linesman during a very heavy bombardment, Connor spent several hours repairing telephone wires over ground which was under heavy and continuous shell fire. His display of bravery and devotion to duty were very marked.’
R. Connor embarked for France in late February 1915, and ended the War as a Sergeant in the 43rd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers.
