Waterloo 1815 (John Giddy, 54th Regiment Foot.) with later steel clip and ring suspension, light pitting, good very fine £1,000-£1,400

John Giddy was born in Biddeford, Devon, and attested for the 54th Regiment of Foot on 1 April 1810. He served in Captain Crofton’s Company during the Waterloo Campaign, 16-18 June 1815, where the regiment formed part of the reserve, although they were afterwards present at the storming of Cambrai and the taking of Paris. He deserted at Liverpool on 18 July 1816.
