Army of India 1799-1826, 2 clasps, Allighur, Bhurtpoor (Seid Hussein, 31st N.I.) short hyphen reverse, officially re-impressed (?) naming, edge bruising and polished, therefore good fine and rare £1,000-£1,500

The 31st Bengal Native Infantry (late 2nd Battalion 15th N.I.) received an honorary standard and an extra Jemadar for its conduct at Allighur and the Battle of Delhi, in addition to battle honours for “Dehlee”, “Laswarrie”, “Deig”, and “Bhurtpore”.

Seid Hussein, a rare combination by any measure, Allighur and Bhurtpore, the first and last clasps awarded, (Jacob’s records: Glen’s May 1922 and November 1951, Sotheby July 1980 [correctly impressed, lacquered], in Magor noted as S-H reverse, officially re-impressed naming: Seid Hussein, 31st N.I. (was 2/15 N.I. at Allighur). A unique combination to a Muslim soldier who had been in a great old Bengal regiment from at least 1803 to 1826’ (Medals of British India, by Robert P. Puddester, refers).
