India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Burma 1887-89 (6922 Pte. J. Wilson 4th. Bn. Rif. Brig.) pawn broker’s mark below bust on obverse field, minor edge bruise, good very fine £140-£180

John Wilson was born in Kelso, Roxburghshire in 1865 and attested for the Rifle Brigade on 18 August 1884, being posted to the 4th Battalion; he subsequently confessed to having deserted from the 2nd Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers. He served with the Rifle Brigade in Gibraltar, India, and Burma, qualifying for the Burma 1887-89 clasp for the period 13 December 1888 to 30 March 1889. He was discharged physically unfit in June 1890.
