128 medals to this regiment, all of whom served in the 1st Kaffir War 1834-35. Fewer than 400 medals were issued to men of the 27th, 72nd, and 75th Regiments, who fought during the 1st Kaffir War.

Jabex Lowrie attested for the 75th Foot on 10 August 1825 as a ‘boy’ and joined No. 3 Company. In February 1827 he was appointed as a Drummer/Fifer. The regiment served in Ireland until March 1830 when they mustered at Canterbury prior to being ordered to embark for the Cape on 24 May, on board the transport Susan, disembarking at the Cape on 21 August 1830. He served at the Cape until sent home to be Invalided on 18 July 1837. The regimental history records that the regiment suffered from the effects of a poor diet while serving on the Frontier through a lack of fresh fruit and vegetables and scurvy was prevalent within the regiment. He joined the Head Quarters party at Drogheda and served in Ireland until the regiment was posted to England in April 1841. Lowrie was admitted as a Chelsea Pensioner on 8 July 1851, and is recorded as having died on 28 March 1859. Sold with detailed muster research.
