Ghuznee 1839 (Jr. Ovenden 2nd or Qus. Royl. Regt.) original suspension, naming attractively engraved in reverse field, very fine £600-£800
Jasper Ovenden enlisted into the 2nd Queen’s Regiment at Chatham Depot on 8 November 1836 and sailed for India on 14 December 1837. He served with the 2nd in Afghanistan from May 1839 to February 1840, and was promoted to Corporal on 27 December 1840. He transferred to the 78th Foot as a Private in August 1845, being promoted to Corporal in December 1846, to Sergeant in December 1849, but reduced to Private on 13 July 1850. He was discharged at Bombay on 14 November 1843.
