John Subden was born at Arnold, Nottingham, and enlisted into the 2/60th Rifles at Nottingham on 2 February 1851, aged 17 years 9 months. He served during the Kaffir War of 1850-53, and transferred to the Cape Mounted Riflemen as a Trooper on 30 October 1853. His claim for a medal was submitted on the roll of the C.M.R. even though all his campaign service was with the 60th Rifles. Sold with muster research.
