Provenance: Glendining’s, March 1918, December 1930, and June 1989; Sotheby, July 1980, on all occasions with two clasps as listed above.
John Jacobs is confirmed on the Admiralty roll as an Ordinary Seaman in Plumper at the capture of Guadaloupe, the only such award for this vessel. He is not shown on the roll for Martinique and Plumper was not present in the West Indies at the time of this action, although Jacobs was still present in the vessel. Two other men of this name are shown on the roll, one for Egypt and one for Syria. Sold with further research.
