Colin John Rose Troup was appointed Ensign in the 52nd Foot on 31 August 1855, and Lieutenant on 7 November 1856, both commissions by purchase. He was wounded at Trimmu Ghaut Puttun on 12 July 1857, in action against the Sealkote mutineers, and retired by sale of his commission in 1859.
