South Africa 1834-53 (W. Cooper. 45th. Regt.) minor edge bruising, good very fine £300-£400

William Cooper was born in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, in 1816, a servant by trade, and attested for the 45th Regiment of Foot at Oxford on 26 October 1838. He served with the Regiment in South Africa during the 3rd Kaffir War (1850-53), before being discharged on 13 September 1853, after 14 years and 323 days’ service, of which ten years were spent in South Africa.
