Robert George McKeown was born in Shankhill, Belfast, in 1874, and attested for the Royal Artillery at Belfast on 18 January 1893. He served with the Royal Artillery in India from 10 October 1894 to 23 March 1904, and was present with 51st Field Battery during operation on the North West Frontier of India 1897-98. He died at Curragh on 27 April 1911, after 18 years and 100 days’ service.
