New Zealand 1845-66, reverse undated (310 Pte. R. Brown, 43rd Foot) naming officially impressed in small capitals, nearly extremely fine £400-£500
310 Private Robert Brown was born at St Leonards and enlisted into the 43rd Light Infantry on 5 May 1859. He served in New Zealand, December 1863 to March 1866, and was present in the actions at Gate Pa, 29 April 1864, Te Ranga, 21 June 1864, and involved in one skirmish. He was severely wounded by a gunshot to the right shoulder at Te Ranga on 21 June 1864. He was discharged by purchase on 24 March 1869, to settle in Australia.
