It is likely that this ticket was probably used to gain entrance to the Royal Cock Pit in Birdcage walk; a similar example is depicted in a 1758 print by William Hogarth. The Royal Cock Pit was built by Charles II but demolished in 1816; the sport itself was declared illegal in 1849
